Our Work
NOAH takes a holistic approach to homelessness and exclusion and no matter which service a person comes to first they are encouraged to make use of as many areas of NOAH as necessary to enable them to reach their potential.
Welfare, Advice and Outreach
Welfare services are at the heart of NOAH. It is through our welfare and outreach services that people most often have their initial contact with NOAH. Services include:
- Day care
- Resettlement and benefits advice
- Drug and alcohol support
- Counselling
- Hot meals
- Healthcare
- Hygiene
- Outreach support to help vulnerable people struggling to cope in their own homes
The Welfare Centre is open 365 days a year and is used by over 1,000 people. An additional 60 people are supported at any one time through our outreach work.
Training
Training is a key tool in breaking the cycle of no money leading to no home and helping people achieve independent living. NOAH runs accredited training courses in:
- Woodwork and furniture restoration
- White goods refurbishment
- Warehousing
- IT skills
- Life skills
Social Enterprise
Our Social Enterprise activities raise money to support NOAH's charitable works and provide support and work experience to many NOAH clients. Our Social Enterprises include:
- Three Luton-based retail outlets located in High Town, Power Court and the Arndale Shopping Centre selling a variety of new and used furniture, kitchen appliances, clothing and household goods
- Furniture and appliance restoration and repair at our Power Court and Portland Road warehouses
- A second hand furniture and kitchen appliance collection and reuse service
Our Social Enterprises have received recent support from the Big Lottery Fund's Community Recycling and Economic Development Programme (CRED) and the European Regional Development Fund.
